Network Auto Login for Windows

Restore network-portal login after failed connectivity checks

Local-first application

The need

An expired network-portal session interrupts work and requires repeated manual browser login.

Why it was developed

Check connectivity and restore a configured portal session using the owner-supplied credentials on the local Windows account.

How to use it

  1. Install Python 3.10+ and Microsoft Edge. Edit config.json with your portal URL and username; its repository copy contains placeholders.
  2. Run Setup.cmd and enter the password at the local hidden prompt. Credentials are protected by Windows DPAPI and are not stored in the repository.
  3. Use Status.cmd, Stop.cmd and Start.cmd to inspect or control the monitor. Use Uninstall.ps1 to remove automatic startup.
  4. Verify a real login on the intended network. OTP, CAPTCHA or unusual portal forms can require manual handling.

How it can save time or money

Reduces time spent noticing disconnected sessions and re-entering the same portal login; it uses local automation rather than a paid connectivity-monitoring service.

These are potential benefits, not measured savings. Include setup, maintenance, review and local operating costs when comparing your own workflow.

Current scope & limits

Real portal authentication was not verified in the development README. This utility cannot repair Wi-Fi hardware or ISP failure. The saved config is sanitized and must be configured per system.
